The movie based on Lee Strobel’s book hits theaters today. The trailer and previews look outstanding and the subject is timely both with respect to Easter approaching and society’s current decline to secular hell.
There seems a trend that in effort to reach mass movie audiences important books are often abridged onto the big screen. Given the importance of the subject I am concerned the movie may not do the book and subject justice so I read the book last week. Apparently I wasn’t paying close attention when downloading the book and purchased a study version of it complete with questions at the end of each chapter, a nice touch for this important work.
The book is outstanding, consistent with scripture, and meticulously researched. Additionally, Mr. Strobel’s years as a journalist are displayed in the outstanding authorship and easy readability of a what is arguably a research or textbook void of drama, comedy, or other entertainment.
I recommend the book and think our crew will find it easy reading. I plan to see the movie and will return to share my thoughts.

Is this the movie Sean Hannity invested in?
I’ve no idea. First I’ve heard.
It looks very good. I will get the book.
Thanks Brent. I will try to get to this. I have seen Lee’s talk on YouTube.
Read the book years ago, in my path to faith. I thought it was to the point and excellent.
My wife is going tomorrow with her girlfriend, since I am stuck working in ABQ. I expect to go with her when I get home. This sounds like the kind of movie one can, and should, see several times. I have read the book twice, before beginning a study of the bible, front to back. Helps if you’re looking at understanding the Lord’s Word (John 1:1).
Devereaux, I have only recently begun incorporating devotionals into my daily quiet and study time. Otherwise I just read the Bible start to finish and journal on it.
All My Best in your walk.
How long does it take you to get through the Bible, Brent?
The first time I did it I used a reading plan to do it in a year. If you search them on the web they are free. I’ve cut a few days off of it since then.
Interestingly the Jews go through the Torah front to back in shule. When they are done, they start over. It generally leads to memorizing the Torah if you start at childhood and go weekly as the Torah prescribes.
?So do you notate the connections between OT and NT passages.
I was never much on faith until perhaps some 10 or so years ago. I got into it little by little but found myself at a loss in my bible study group in that I had no real knowledge of what all the bible said.
Lutheran Church Charities is run by a guy who also published bible studies. One of them, Word for Word, is a 2-year study consisting of weekly meetings, starts with Genesis 1 and ends with Revelation. I got the DVD’s (some 60 of them in boxes of 10 each), bought a portable DVD player, and would come back to the hotel from work, eat something, and watch one of the DVD’s while notating my bible. My bible has ended up with notes all over the place, giving the connecting reference – in both books.
I claim no extensive knowledge. I am strongly considering repeating my walk through all the books in the hopes of more sticking in my old brain and gaining a better intimacy with the Lord.
Dev, I am a work in progress for sure. Every time I read it I get more from the experience and connect OT to NT in some new way.
This time is the first time I’ve been able to comprehend Psalms.
Good to see a young man with faith. I am sorry to say I came to it rather late. Probably would have saved me a lot of grief had I done it earlier. But then, perhaps I wasn’t ready then to accept the Lord.
I don’t know about that young man stuff.
I came to Christ in June of 2009 at the tender age of 41. I spent time in the Word, but also dabbled in the legalism and religion; negotiating with the Lord.
I believed and could regurgitate words, but wasn’t trusting, living, and walking it out.
Beginning January 2015 He started putting me on my knees and finally got me there this year so that I would stop relying on my own prideful ways and turn to Him.
It hasn’t been fun and I recommend seeking him much earlier, often, and with an open heart and mind more so than I did.
He Loves us and is going to call us, but some like me are wild donkeys and stiff necked and it is going to take some work to get the message.
I saw some trailers for this new film. It looks like a good one. Often Christian films are pretty cheesy.
That is my fear Dime, but a good and trusted friend went yesterday and says it is the real deal.
Recently there have been good Christian films. What I mean by that is that they have been good films without to heavy handed forcing the card message. They tell a real story and leave the warts in.
Brent, I enjoyed this post. You should make more like this.

Brent, it is too bad you missed Dev on the B-AMU. He came on after you and between him and Right Angles they stole the show.
