Video for discussion.

I thought this covered the way Conservative views are trashed by the elites. I will post the link to the fuller clip in the first comment.

The video covers something that I worry about. Do I act or just react to things? Do my opponents set my agenda or do I? Is it a never ending feud or a way to constructive productive communication or action?

The GOP reacts. Trump is acting.

It’s all a question of who controls the terms of the debate, the narrative. For a long time the Left controlled the terms of debate. So it wasn’t a fact that racism was mostly gone; it was that as a white boy you are a racist mysogenist pig. Only when you turn the tables on them, when you do things SO outrageous, SO out-of-the-box (like accusing Obama the god of tapping his phones) that the OTHER side scrambles to get to its feet. Doesn’t help them that they keep looking for Russians under every bed.

Good point. Trump is acting not reacting. He is getting them to talk about his agenda.

I would also add that Donald is neither a conservative or progressive; a Republican or Democrat. He isn’t even (as the MSM loves to describe him) a Populist.

He’s a pragmatic businessman and I can’t wait to see what he does next. Neither can my stock portfolio. :)

I reject the premise of the video, which is that conservatives hold extreme views solely for the purpose of ticking off progressives. The views just look extreme because the progs have moved the Overton Window so far to the left that reasonable, moderate views look extreme. As Devereaux points out above, the progs controlled the debate so it just looked that way.

      DocLor,

I agree. I don’t think Conservatives hold beliefs to tick off progressives. Reality ticks off progressives. Math does too.

Would you not agree that some people in the movement seem angry all the time?
I thought the NTs were angry and not facing reality. They held a double standard.

Stephen Miller doesn’t form his views based on the attack of the day from leftists. They would love to characterize him as being so mindless. The good doctor is exactly correct.

I hope we don’t get bogged down on the premise of the video but more on how Conservatives are marginalized and the best way to overcome the bias. Andrew Sullivan is not the best person to talk about the Conservative movement. I am surprised that he gave up gynecology to write this piece. (An allusion to writing on Sarah Palin.)
