I watched the address to Congress and the Opposition Media last night and felt fairly satisfied that the guy I had been backing had grit and was capable of delivering the goods when necessary.
Either Trump has a gift for being underestimated over and over again or the American Elites in Politics and Media are a spent force in common sense perception. It is almost as if they have been inbred to the point of stupidity , like pet shop puppies. Crazy and stupid but looking proper for show. The Elites underestimating Trump is becoming like a Roadrunner /Coyote cartoon.

Trump’s speech was good, and he is getting better at delivery. In the hands of a Reagan it would have been poetry that made crowds visibly weep, but he was a more experienced actor. Trump beats Reagan at empathy. Many people feel he is approachable and one of them. Reagan was good at empathy, but he was also always Hollywood Royalty, just a bit special and more than normal.
I am beginning to think Trump reminds me more of Eisenhower than any other President. Neither were lawyers, or politicians, but both knew many and accomplished tangible things outside the DC Bubble. Neither needed the job, Eisenhower was the victor of WW2, Trump was a billionaire. Both could have rested on their lives.
Both men understood big decisions and the need for staff to handle all but the biggest decisions. Jimmy Carter actually managed the time on the White House tennis courts. W was continuing the family business, HW was adding yet one more slot to the resume. Bill Clinton, well we know what drives him, policy and something else with a “P”. Obama viewed it from the lens of the ultimate Progressive street organizer.
Eisenhower managed the Cold War to not lose and avoid WW3. Reagan wanted to win the Cold War and avoid WW3. Trump seems closer to Eisenhower than Reagan in his outlook.
So far, the show is one of the more exciting I have seen and we are still in the opening credits.

It is good to see someone flush with optimism. Personally I am in a dark mood, not at all sure freedom will survive. I have hope for Trump but not much assurance.
“So far, the show is one of the more exciting I have seen and we are still in the opening credits.”
Shoot dude; you keep stealing my lines!
“Trump beats Reagan at empathy. Many people feel he is approachable and one of them.”
Another astute observation. The first question I asked when he announced his run for the presidency was “What’s in it for him? After all, who has a greater life than Donald Trump?”
My husband responded immediately to my query with this: “He’s a patriot.” I agreed but I would add he is both on and off the field and perhaps capitalize the ‘P.’ :))
Isn’t it sad that the whole concept of “patriot” is so passe among the elites. Imagine John Kerry speaking of patriotism. Or America first.
I must admit I was also referring to Trump’s friendship with a certain Patriot I truly admire. :)
