My dear friend: Neil “Waylon” Jennings passed away after a long bout with cancer. He passed away on Valentine’s Day and there will be a memorial for him Saturday March 4th. You can read about Waylon at: http://neiljennings.co/. He and I shared a special relationship in that he used to visit on business during the days I was far from God. He had seen enough and asked God to call out to me in an unmistakable way and show me the truth. Thankfully, his prayers were answered 9 years ago.
Waylon was a tremendous author, vivid and transparent. Early in my trading/analysis career he would proofread much of my work along with some of my early Ricochet posts. I am largely the writer I am today thanks to his encouragement and critique.
Waylon was working on a book when he passed and his son JJ built the website and posted a link to the book. If you can find it on your heart to pray for JJ’s salvation, please do so. He is an amazing, brilliant young man who despite his parents loving, caring, and nurturing and leading JJ to Christ is not yet saved and it was something Waylon wrestled with.
The book, is available here: http://neiljennings.co/slippingthebonds.pdf
This includes a variety of chapters and topics from favorite Bible passages, to amazing recipes to very vivid aviation tales. This is a very good read.
Waylon’s memorial will be this Saturday in Hanford, CA. In lieu of attending I pray the Lord will sustain me and send me to his wife to help with their homes, his effects, and odd jobs that need to be done weeks after the crowd disperses from the memorial. Enjoy the book and include his family in your prayers. Especially JJ – repay the precious gift his Father prayed over me when the life I was living was so earthly bright I could not see the pit it had become.

So sorry to see this, Brent! Prayers for you and all concerned! [Panda Hug]
Thank you Nanda Panda.
Pray for his family. It will be tough this weekend and I am afraid this experience will harden his son’s heart further. Your prayers over his son will mean more than anything.
Thank you.
I am sure your friend would smile at your remembrance. We never really lose the ones we love as long as we keep the memories close.
He is just saving a good spot for his family. I will see him again. This is temporary.
His book is really pretty amazing.
A fine remembrance. May the Lord have mercy upon his soul.
Thank you Brent for this post.
My condolences.
I have to admit at first I thought this had to do with the Country Music star.
Waylon Jennings & Jessi Colter were two of the most significant country artists to perform at Nashville’s Exit/In.
I was practically living across the street on West End Avenue in my Vandy dorm when I first heard him play on Elliston Pl. As a Beatles/Who/Stones fan, I had to be convinced by my college boyfriend to attend one of his concerts in this unique venue in 1977.
He rocked it.
It must be hard to be the son of an amazing man. I’ll pray for him, that he can now seek what made his dad great. And find it.
I never thought of it that way.
