?Are you feeling a bit “down”. The administration appears to be regrouping around more traditional positions.
Well, let’s keep in mind it’s only February 13 – all of 3 weeks since Trump took office. During this rather brief period there has been more smoke, more artillery barrages, more screaming (by the crazies on the Left) and more mayhem than I recollect in any previous administration. We have been treated to just about every zany excuse by the Lefties the mind can imagine.
“He doesn’t have any experience!” Neither did Obama.
“Obama was a state senator!” Not really. He pretty much missed ALL the legislative sessions.
“He tells lies!” Kind of hard to make that argument with Obama’s record of “truth telling”
None of this is important. What I suddenly note is … quiet. Nothing much is happening! After all the noise, it’s, well, disconcerting. Funny, huh.

Steer clear of cable news, for your own good!
Couldn’t agree more. The thrill is gone, but I’m keeping the faith knowing there is no other candidate today who could withstand what this president will have to face going forward. I’m comforted by the fact that he has surrounded himself with the best of the best.
I only worry that we waited too late. Romney in 2012 might have been able to impede the carnage.
The media does what it can do, which is to focus on one thing. So if that stalls, it appears that nothing is happening.
A lot is going on in the agencies as new management takes hold.
Wait until the EPA guy gets approved. Then wait for the screams.
Meanwhile, Priebus better get those leakers in jail.
Trump has made the chip shots, the 6″ putts he said he would make. I think his response to the courts regarding the vetting of immigrants was weak sauce, but that is just a ten cent opinion on sale for 100% off.
The issue always has been and will be so more than ever: Congressional Republican leadership.
Obamacare will not be repealed, it will be arguably made worse. Federal government tax confiscation will increase with a rejiggered scheme, spending will skyrocket, regulations that favor certain constituencies (which is ever regulation) will remain in effect.
How Trump responds to the heavy lifting. Actually draining the swamp rather than just stirring up some snakes.
“Obamacare will not be repealed…”
I fear you are right because once you give something to the masses, it is impossible to retract.
If your voters are ‘the masses’ then you may be right, but Obamacare.s constituents are not as numerous as the media makes it out to be. Most of it is forcibly enrolled Medicaid and prison inmates.
If the idiot congress will just let the companies sell policies again without all the baggage, then most of the voting public will view it as an improvement.
It looks like they are doing the risk pool for pre-existing, which has worked fine in car insurance for decades.
Let us see what happens now that Tom Price has HHS.
I expect congress will defer o him to ‘let him take the rap’ if it goes bad. If you have cowards you need to act, you give them a scapegoat.
You may be surprised on OCare. Is is not that damned hard if congress just gets out of the way.
I am still optimistic. If we get some robust growth and actually begin killing off a lot of stupid spending, plus start increasing leasing federal lands we may see some improvement in the top revenue line while cutting the federal workforce.
Congressional scoring is useless in a growing economy, a trick they always use to increase spending in good times.
Lets grow and cut for a bit and then tackle entitlements. If they will not cut the bloat, then there will be no political will to cut SS and Medicare.
You get people feeling prosperous and you can make the entitlement case.
“Lets grow and cut for a bit and then tackle entitlements. If they will not cut the bloat, then there will be no political will to cut SS and Medicare.”
Here is where we disagree and why I agreed with Trump. SS and medicare are not entitlements; they represent 15% of all my pay checks that was taken without my consent.
I simply want my money back. I can manage my own healthcare and retirement funds via HSAs; thank you very much.
Forgot to mention I was a big fan of W’s 2% private self-invested account. Every little bit counts.
SS & Medicare suffer in large part from Congressional largesse. Those dudes have been giving away the farm for a long time. Some of those give-aways can be done without much pain – like to all the illegals.
Congressional spending is far to wide and numerous. Too many “projects”, too many “home grown” things – the Byrd-type projects that were merely spending for the sake of spending.
