Milo is in the news again. Riots, CNN Character Assassination. Academia Protecting The Liberal Meme.

I am curious about the folks here. What do you think Milo is or represents?
Is he:
- The Lenny Bruce of the 21st Century
- The Inevitable Result of Politics Merging With Entertainment
- A Serious Person With an Important Message
- An effective messenger of the New Conservatism
- All Flash and No Substance
- A Gay , Blonde Male Ann Coulter
- A Very Funny Guy With Serious Guts.
I would love to know your impression. Mine mutates every time I see him. I may even read his latest book.
Over to you, dear BDB readers.

To a large extent, he’s just a guy with the guts to push back somewhat on the campus censorship issue.
Steyn or Coulter or Pam Geller may have drawn a similar response. Would they have gone despite the threats?
His particular background may also make him more appealing to invite as a misguided sop to political correctness.
I’ve watched a lot of interviews with him and watched several clips of him at his events. He is a serious guy who milks the audacity quotient of his public persona to get attention, then uses it to disseminate largely conservative thoughts. He highlights irony almost as well as St. Ann Coulter. I think he’s bold, brave and very funny, and I don’t give a rats ass about his gay presentation.
Couldn’t help but compare the 60s and 70s campus riots with mottoes such as “Make Love Not War” vs. the violent gangsta thugs who currently run around with signs exclaiming “Transgender Dykes are Pure” or “Blow up the White House.”
This boomer is flabbergasted because my generation knew how to protest with a peaceful (although annoyingly naive) message.
Interesting example is that the Kent State protest in 1970 resulted in an indictment of the National Guard and not upon student activists who now, in the 21st century, wish to engage in violent and destructive mayhem. Granted, there was the SDS, the Weather Underground (Ayers and Dohrn … ahem, Obama) and the Panthers in the 70s, but they were never considered particularly representative of the mainstream.
ET, I hear you and Milo is not my idea of a stable friend, but as an agent provocateur he seems pretty good.
Our side fighting the progressives needs people who can bring in more folks. Milo is for a new audience to the side, just like Trump was.
The Buckley conservative model seems to have appeal to a very small group. It needs some help.
Milo strikes me as Sam Adams to balance John Adams.
I enjoyed this analogy and thank you.
You may actually have come up with a great new theme for a post:
1.Jefferson (aristocrat) vs. (the illegitimate) Hamilton
2.Thomas Paine vs. (wild one) Henry Clay
3. The daughters of the American Revolution vs. everybody!
As one whose university career began there, in ’76, I think nobody won here; the students could’ve petitioned for a controlled burn of the bldg. (It was due to come down anyway.) And the Guardsmen in no way should’ve been issued live, surplus – read: possibly defective, unstable – ammo.) I guess that ups my ‘purple” cred quotient. :-)
Oops; forgot to respond to the original question about Milo. Sorry!
My opinion is that he is all substance but has an annoying style. :)
I absolutely love him. Here’s a great interview example of how he pushes back:

I always agree with Larry Koler but the black fingernail polish and the exaggerated sense of self does annoy me. However, because, I am a Republican and not a member of the fascist left, I shall endure and focus upon Milo’s excellent message and even point to the hypocrisy of the alt left for bashing a “queer.”
I just admire Ingraham, Perino and Hannity because they present with a little less drama. But I’m a WASP, so what other reaction could one possibly expect? :)
He’s a necessary balance in the country. He reminds nothing so much as Camille Paglia. She’s quite refreshing, too.
I might submit that that is just what has been wrong with “our” side – not enough drama. It’s what has made Coulter so wonderful – a fearlessness to step into the mouth of the dragon and call him out.
I might submit that there isn’t enough intellectual and factual heft on our side that Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham have certainly provided in an aggressive, manner … sans des conneries.
And remember who kicked Coulter out of the club? NR and a bunch of the present NeverTrumpers.
NR staff is not WASP, but I have subscribed to it for 10 years nonetheless.
I believe WFB would be appalled at the turn his periodical has taken on the editorial side. He always said, “The wisest choice would be the one who would win.”
Wow; black nail polish and all, I certainly admire him for having the guts to say, “Radical Islamism is not the problem, Islam is.”
He reminded me of my personal heroine Ayaan Hirsi Ali who has had a fatwa placed upon her for years after spouting similar ‘blasphemy.’
Haven’t seen much of him, but did watch a recent interview on Fox.
He seems a serious guy with a sense of humour. He does remind one of Coulter some; both seem to have the “bomb-throwing” gene, something I personally LOVE (and maybe so does BDB). I have long felt there is not enough of that on “our” side. I for one am totally tired of no push-back, so guys like Milo, Trump decidedly fit my idea of how to fight liberals.
Make them apoplectic!
Milo will help sales of Mylanta in certain quarters, no?
“He does remind one of Coulter…”
Good point and one that I certainly relate to as I own seven of her books (hardbacks only). Perhaps I relate to thin blondes with long blonde hair, little black dresses, et les grandes bouches. :)
I certainly do! ;-)
