Use to be a month. Now it’s 2. Must be getting a bit hard up.

My last words there were “Go ahead. Pull the trigger. It will hurt you more than it hurts me.”
This is not because I personally matter, or can (or would) do them some great harm. But a Ricochet which cannot handle me is not long for this world. They used to be able to handle me just fine, before I felt beseiged by the left-libertarian cabal that took the joint over. Humorless scolds and hyper-literal purveyors of principles as laughable and solutions as risible as any communist community organizer ever dared to put chalk to chalkboard.
The way I see it, I was a conservative canary, and I have had it with that coal mine.
Isn’t it a little disingenuous of JG to call himself a “member”? When he goes on Kooker Basement News with Scary Skinny Lady, he calls himself Editor-In-Chief. And “social network”? Well now I understand why they use the “Ultimate Member” plugin with its bewildering selection of friends, walls, non-functional “groups” and undefined buttons, pulldowns, and so forth.

I was their token Kempian, I think. (Yeah, Dev, I know.) 2 months was in force back in August, at least

It seems to be evolving into FB Center-Right/platform for writers: El Colonel, Dave Carter; and a jumping-off point to other venues. Maybe they envisioned this all-along.

How about capitalists, pragmatists, non-ideologues and members who harbored concerns about Islamic refusal to assimilate to Western values even as they chose to immigrate to U.S. and Europe?

As an aside, my husband and I were planning another trip this year to Budapest, Krakow, and Vienna; our beloved cities that have endured so much, stood so strong and maintained their magnificent traditions in music, art, and dressage. Doesn’t seem fair that after decades of Hitler and Stalin, they now must endure the onslaught of undocumented Syrian refugees.

I’d love to return but even the General Manager of the Sacher Hotel in Vienna advised against it. I quote him:

“Our customers pay enormous prices to enjoy all the wonders of our culture but I am worried about both your safety and satisfaction that you have so obviously gleaned from our magnificent city.

    Wait a little.”

I am not even sad; I am outraged that this man honestly believed he was protecting his clientele.

  9. EThompson says:

I agree and this is why I am madder than a wet hen!

  10. AdministratorAdministrator says:

    That’s pretty mad.

  11. EThompson says:

You have no idea. I am frustrated that I am unable to support the arts and spend my money where I damn well please.

  12. NandaNanda says:

Does the Gen. Mgr’s caution prevent you from going, Liz…Or give you pause in doing so? How long is “a little”? Wondering…

    • EThompson says:

It’s very expensive to stay at the Sacher and the GM (who sends me a Christmas card every year) knows how particular I am and if I see a burka in the lobby, who knows what could happen. I think he was simply covering his own a**.

Holy Crap. Wading through the swamp (appalled at Claire’s new title for her “book”), I came across a remarkable comment from R:JamesMadison. See here:
I have never agreed so whole-heartedly with that particular fellow. Usually not at all and quite disagreeably so.
Claire Berlinski is out-leftying the rest of the lefties over at Ricochet. Just incredible. Note that she links to her new page, apparently set up by Ben Nugent, another New York lefty, and which page does she link to: Why the CONTRIBUTION page, of course!
I’ll pinch it off here, before I become merely pejorative. Believe me — I’m holding back.
