Fake News is the new Book Burning

The hue and cry over “fake news” is not complicated, but it is disturbing.  I hate crap as much as the next guy, but the #FakeNews nonsense is classic censorship with a progressive twist.  The two-fold goals are to get the government in the business of shutting down publication of conservative thought, and to attach a stigma to Trump’s victory that even the offended wings of the GOP will accede to.

Bullshit is still bullshit, and you still need to regularly tune your bullshit filters to get through life — same way you need an ID card to exist in the real world.  But in the Progressive police state, an ID card is too hard to get, and the existence of incorrect thoughts cannot be borne by a fragile, mentally diminished herd of compliant worker/consumer/voters.

Citizens, on the other hand, can cut through the crap on our own just fine.  If anything needed government intervention to de-clutter, it is the fake news pouring from all of the major media.  Print, broadcast, cable, online; most of it is dreck unfit for consideration by intelligent people except as raw material to be balled up and flung back at its originators.  For this we have the commentariat, who are not going to oppose this “fake news” propagandization, because they will say what it takes in order to curry the government’s favor.  Yes, we opposed Trump.  Yes, we said the Russians were behind it all along.  Yes, we will tell you from inside the Republican camp what the conservatives say.  No, their views will not be published.  Thank you sir, may I have another?

“Fake News” is another shibboleth issued by the progressive democrats, licensed for use by the “center-right”.

I think we are seeing some real hard-core and desperate moves by the elite governance and media to salvage the narrative they have been carefully building now that they are threatened with a true challenge. This election coupled with what has been going on in state and local elections could be a turning point the establishment does not want. I was watching Trump once during the campaign when he said, in response to a question about why he had decided to run, ‘something is really wrong here’. He was referring to our government and I’m not sure he was ready to give details but it was clear he thought we have a serious problem.

I agree. What is most interesting is that the one person on the left playing it cool, playing the long game is Obama. If we ever wanted proof of the maniacal long thinking of the progressive communist transformation look no further than Obama’s conduct since the election. He gets it.

The rest of the left is losing their shit consistent with your thesis.

Obama will become the shadow President. He will form an opposition administration-in-waiting.

Obama is still vulnerable as Hell on the Clinton emails. HE is why this is interesting, why there must be a prosecution.
If Obama pardons Clinton, that should open the door to an alternative route to Obama.

Agree re Obama. I want to see this thoroughly investigated and see his participation outed. Of course there will be cries of racism.

As it has been, so it will be. Confirmation bias is comfortable. Objectivity is a myth. (See Cronkite on Vietnam, for instance.)

As Ted Sturgeon famously said (more or less),”ninety percent of everything is crap.” Of course he was talking about science fiction, a much more rigorous discipline than modern journalism.

Hey yourself, MLH. By the way, I think you need a more felicitous title — Community Organizer has unwholesome connotations.

    Howdy, Vald!

The media will not go quietly. However, they are like bullies. They have never had a target fire back and they panic.
Every time he tweets, they whine about it. As if answering their slander was against the rules.
